Laura has enjoyed being an artist since childhood and mosaic work has developed as my passion for the last 25 years.
She has been commissioned to create many large-scale mosaics (ranging from 6 to 70 feet long). My public works include murals for the Albuquerque Zoo (2017) and Botanic Gardens (2011) and five local Range Cafes. The Norman Oklahoma Arts Board/percent for the arts/ commissioned a mosaic for Lyons Park (where community joined in creating forms of local animal and plant life). Since 2002, she has created mosaics for many businesses (including Rust Hospital) and approximately 50 private residencies.Laura co-spearheaded the 70-foot-long Placitas Community Mosaic entitled, Protect Our Wildlife Corridors, which involved hundreds of community members and sought to raise awareness of New Mexico's indigenous animals and their need to travel to maintain genetic viability.
Laura is a co-founder of the organization Mosaic New Mexico, which has more than 30 members, and also co-author (with Cirrelda Snider Bryan) of the 40 page booklet, Mosaics of Central New Mexico - A Self Guided Tour, recently published and distributed by this group. She is a founding member of the collaborative Wild Hearts Gallery, a successful business since 2018.
Laura’s work has been published in books (most recently, Mosaic Art Today, Schiffer Publishing 2012) magazines and newspapers. It has received awards and been shown at New Mexico museums.
